Being Thankful Even In Divorce

On Behalf of | Jul 7, 2021 | Uncategorized

It is that time of year again.  There is a chill in the air.  Pumpkin pies are in the oven and grocery stores are crowded.  Most stores have already started playing Christmas music.  Well, most stores started with the Christmas music as soon as they put the Halloween candy on sale.  Thanksgiving is here.  Tables are weighed down full of turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and bunches of other foods.  It is a time we often associate with family.  During this time, we also often think about giving thanks.

If you are getting divorced or recently divorced, you may wonder “what do I have to be thankful about?”  There are reasons why you should be thankful.  Here are a couple of thoughts.

You may have children together whom you love no matter what.

You have learned what you truly want in a relationship and realized that you deserve to have it.

You have removed yourself from an unhealthy situation.

You now communicate better with your ex and can be friends, you just can’t live together.

You don’t have to spend the holidays with your in-laws.

You can watch football all day without anyone complaining (or you can watch the parade, Hallmark Channel, whatever).

You are able to plan your next chapter.

So, when you are starting to think about the fact that this year the holiday may be a little different, realize that there are some positive outcomes from your relationship ending.

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving.
